What is gluten?
Gluten is the main protein which is found in wheat, oats and barley. To have a sensitivity to gluten means your body is lacking enough of the proper enzymes needed to break down these proteins—Much like a dairy intolerance where one might be lacking enough of the enzyme, lactase, to break down lactose.

What has gluten in it?
Wheat.
Varieties and derivatives of wheat
Rye
Barley
Triticale.
Malt in various forms including: malted barley flour, malted milk or milkshakes, malt extract, malt syrup, malt flavoring, malt vinegar.
Brewer’s Yeast.

Although oats are technically gluten free already, the way in which they are processed or manufactured can be an issue for some people with Celiac disease (an allergy to gluten). So, I often buy whichever oats are on sale, but I really do enjoy these oats regardless of whether they are certified “gluten-free” or not.
