So I’ve been working for Sephora for about 2 weeks now and I’m really loving it! Currently, we are featuring a 3 step kit from Ole Henriksen called the 3 Little Wonders which claims to transform your skin in 7 days. It contains a daytime serum, a moisturizer and a nighttime chemical exfoliant. Skin care has always peaked my interest but has never been something I was eager to invest a lot of money in. This kit is only $86 (CAD) though, and at that price, it’s tough to argue. I did however receive 3 smaller versions of each item as gratis from Sephora so I figured I’d give them a shot and see if it really did make a difference in 7 days. Here are my thoughts with before and after photos.
The Truth Serum:
-Firstly, it smells amazing, and you can tell it contains a LOT of vitamin C (5 types actually) by the smell and it instantly makes my skin feel brighter and more awake. A GREAT way to start your morning off. The 5 types of vitamin C promote natural collagen production , brighten the skin and help minimize fine lines.
-It defends against environmental affects and free radical damage. Basically it protects your skin from all the shit and pollutants in our environment.
-It’s formulated without Parabens, Sulphates and Phthalates.
– I apply a few pumps of this into my hands and massage then pat this into my skin in the morning after I’ve cleansed my face. I also used this after I applied the Invigorating Night Treatment at nighttime.
-This is the second step in the kit. After I’ve applied the Truth Serum or the Invigorating Night Treatment, I’ll apply a pea sized amount to my face and neck.
-This moisturizer is oil-free, good for all skin types (as are all these products) and reduces the appearance of dark spots.
-Even though I tend to get oily in my t-zone, I love me a good moisturizer. This one didn’t feel overly heavy but also felt like it was doing something.
-I also like that it contains a lot of cool natural ingredients like liquorice extract which promotes skin’s elasticity, fights inflammation and wrinkle formation.
Invigorating Night Treatment:
This one took me a while to get use to and understand. This nighttime serum is contains AHA (alpha hydroxy acid) which is a chemical exfoliant. Now that word sounded scary to me when I heard it because I thought of scary chemical peels gone wrong. But what I didn’t realize is the abrasive scrubs and other exfoliants I have used in the past (usually from drugstores) are actually a lot harder on my skin that something like this. What AHA is going to do is cause your top layer of dermis (skin) which is mainly all dead flaky cells, to sluff off and reveal a fresh, bright layer of new skin underneath. This is why I felt the tingly sensation when I applied it. It felt similar to the tingling of a salicylic acid. By removing the top layer of dead skin cells it not only allows your skin to look brighter and have a more even texture but it allows other serums or treatments, like the Truth Serum and Sheer Transformation to sink deeper in to your skin and target deeper layers of skin. I applied a few pumps or a pea sized amount all over my face and followed it with the Truth Serum or the Sheer Transformation.
Exciting, right?! I thought so. Especially after understanding WHAT these products really were and HOW they would work for me, I was much more inclined and excited about them. I tried to take both before and after photos around the same time of day and at the same angle so that there wouldn’t be much difference in lighting and you could see both clearly. You can click on all pictures to enlarge them if you would like.
Here is before picture when I had only been using the products for a day.
Here is the after pictures after using these products for just 7 days.
And a side by side:
Overall, my skin feels WAY healthier and looks amazing, but that’s also because I have nothing to compare it to as I’ve never used a routine like this before. As for what the products claim to do though I would have to say I was impressed. The texture of my skin is visibly smoother, brighter and the fine lines around my forehead and eyes seem to be less visible. Using these products made all of my complexion makeup products go on like a dream and I constantly received compliments on my skin throughout the week. I will definitely be purchasing these when I run out!
*Disclaimer: Sephora has NOT paid me to write or talk about these products. All opinions are my own.
**While using these 3 products, I was also using a couple different cleansers from Origins, and on days when I was outdoors I would apply an SPF 30 on my face AFTER the Sheer Transformation.
