Yes, it’s already February, and that means the “non-holiday” Valentine’s Day is quickly approaching. If you are someone who finds yourself in a pinch for a gift or you need an idea on how to woo that special someone, then this post is for you!
In true Pacific Beauty fashion, I’ve kept this gift guide specific to Vancouver to promote the local shops, venues, restaurants etc., within it. The small independent businesses that strive to stay afloat in this ridiculously expensive city are amazing and it’s important to support them first, over the big box companies.
For the Lingerie Lover
Honey is one of my fave spots for cute lingerie and, if you’re up for it, sex toys. They offer a variety of different lingerie, outfits, lubes, play toys, and also underwear for men! Because guys deserve Valentine’s Day gifts too, ya know.
Honey has two locations, one on Cambie and one on Pender. You can also look them up online here.
For the Foodie
Ask For Luigi
Channel your inner Lady and the Tramp and take your partner out for some delicious handmade pasta. Dishes are served family style, meaning they are meant to be shared, so you’ll need to be open to that (No pulling a Joey from FRIENDS).
They do not take reservations, so make sure to arrive early and/or expect to wait a while.
For the Botanist
Our Little Flower Company
Spoil your partner with a beautiful bouquet of flowers from Granville Island’s Our Little Flower Company. They are hands down my favourite florists in Vancouver and always have such a beautiful selection of fresh foliage.
For the Sweet Tooth
If you know your partner has a sweet tooth, then treat them to some of the most decadent and award-winning chocolates from Beta 5. Not only are their chocolates insanely beautiful, they taste absolutely amazing! They are located on Granville Island, but you can find out more about them on their website.
For the Boot-Scootin-Boogie-er
Boots and Babes Ball at the Commodore Ballroom
Maybe you’re one of the few people who love country in this city (I kid, I kid) but if you’re into stompin’ your boots and dancing the night away, there’s an event just for you. Live music and entertainment will be sure to keep you busy, and tickets are reasonably priced so you don’t have to break the bank!

For The Stay-Home-and-Cook Couple
Maybe staying in is your thing and you don’t want to spend a night out— that’s totally fine. If you’re not much of a chef though, or you just want to make something that’s relatively simple (maybe you’ve got kids?) then this is a great option! Of all the meal kit services out there, Freshprep is the only one who’s headquarters are based in Vancouver. They strive to use as many local and organic ingredients as possible, and they contain no additives or artificial hormones. Find out more about them on their website.
For the Theatre-Go’er
Arts Club Theatre
Take your partner out to the theatre! With four different shows playing on the night of the 14th, you have a variety to choose from. The Joni Mitchell musically inspired, Circle Game, and Morris Panych’s comedy, The Shoplifter, are two that caught my eye.
Find showtimes and more info here.
No matter what level you’re at— in a sweet new relationship, or a comfy established one, Vancouver’s local shops deliver what you need to light the fire a little brighter. Have a good one, my sweets!
